How to Name Your Returnship Program

At Women Back to Work, we have partnered with many leading employers across the US to implement full-service, high-touch Returnship programs. And the impact these programs have had on our partner companies, as well as the Returner community, has been nothing short of extraordinary.

A lot of hard work goes into a successful Returnship. There’s the sourcing of qualified candidates, the screening, the interviewing, onboarding, nurturing the new hires to ensure success, and much more. Many returnship programs also have events that need to be coordinated and scheduled. All of this effort can be very rewarding when Returners are hired and thrive within the company.

But launching and implementing a Returnship is not all hard work. Coming up with a name for your Returnship is a key for branding it, can be quite fun for the implementation team, and it gets the creative juices flowing.

We’ve seen some great names for Returnships throughout the years. Tesla’s was called “Women Recharged” and Credit Suisse has a Returnship called “Real Returns”. These are creative names that take into account what the company does and the fact that they are dedicating resources to hire and nurture career-ready professionals who have taken a break and are now ready to get back into the workforce.

This is the approach you should take as well.

Let’s look at a few companies and see if we can apply this strategy to naming a potential Returnship program for them.

How about Nike? They sell shoes and other athletic wear. Is there something they could do with the concept of running? Or maybe the word athlete or sports? They are also known for their tagline, “Just Do It”. So, what about a name like “Just Re-Do It” for their Returnship Program? There are a lot of possibilities here.

Now let’s look at the retail giant Target. They are clearly known for their target logo. Can they do something with “aiming” or “hitting the mark”? Maybe instead of the phrase “Aim Higher” it could be “Aim Hire” or “Target Hire.”

Boeing’s Returnship Program is called “Return Flight.”

You get the idea.

Tools like WordHippo can help you find synonyms and doing a Google search for “phrases containing (insert keyword here)” will help you come up with ideas.

Best of luck.
